Joining the Orchestra

The Orchestra aims to perform to the highest standards of musicianship, and most of our players come to us as highly competent classical musicians with previous orchestral experience.

Vacancies do arise so we are always interested in hearing from potential players of a good standard. We also operate a list of "extra" players that we can call on for individual concerts when necessary.

If you would be interested in playing with the Orchestra, please email Simon at players@charnwoodorchestra.org.uk. The Orchestra rehearses on Thursday evenings in term time, at Emmanuel Church in Loughborough. You can join the Orchestra for free and try it out for a term, then becoming a member of the Orchestra is subject to a reasonable annual subscription.

We take pride in being a convivial and welcoming orchestra. As Paul, our former principal oboe, put it: "Thank you for 12+ years of such enjoyable music-making with such a lovely, friendly and generous orchestra. I never thought when I joined you all those years ago, that playing in an orchestra would be so rewarding."
